Three 90-minute classes to help you learn more about your camera, how to make it do what you want it to and how to improve your artistic eye.

WHEN:

Three Wednesdays—March 4, 11 and 18, 2020 from 7:00–8:30 pm.

Q Artists Cooperative, 1108 Main Street, Stevens Point

REQUIREMENTS:

Any snapshot camera other than a cell phone (simple point & shoot, mirrorless or advanced DSLR) and a desire to be able to use it better for your own photographic purposes.

COST:

$149 for all three sessions.

  • March 4

    The first class will take the mystery out the actual picture-taking process. You’ll learn what all those buttons and setting on your camera actually do. You’ll also learn not only how to adjust them to get better photos, but also why and when to use them. You’ll never be a slave to the ‘Auto Everything’ settings again!

    Your travel and vacation photos will be worthy of hanging on your walls.

  • March 11

    The second session will build on your knowledge from the previous class by focusing on how to make better pictures. Developing an ‘eye’ for a good shot is not rocket science, but it does require a basic understanding of composition, timing and lighting. Whether you’re looking to create more artistic images or just take better snapshots of your family or travels, you will go away with an improved sense of picture making. A class assignment will be given for you to use your newfound knowledge to create images for the next class.

    If you have children or grandchildren who dance, act or play sports, your action shots will be better.

  • March 18

    The final class will be an opportunity for you to show your work from the Class 2 assignment and have it critiqued by John. Seeing your work and that of your classmates up on the screen offers a learning experience that will get you excited about your photography motivate you to use the techniques you learned in all your future picture taking.
